My Bucket List

Bucket list – A list of things to do, see, experience before you ‘hit the bucket’, or in other words, a to-do list before you die. If you’re unfamiliar with this concept, let me explain. A bucket list isn’t something morbid that you think of when you’re old or dying. A bucket list is something you think of when you’re young and in good health.

Why? Because what’s the point of living without dreams, hopes or goals? If you live your whole entire life without taking the time to think about what you really want, what you really need or even what you simply feel like doing, you’re like to miss the chance to live out your life the way you had hoped.

So, a bucket list isn’t a pre-death wishlist. It’s actually a how-to-live-your-life guide.

My bucket list

Ever since I can remember, I’ve always been addicted to sports. So, naturally, there are quite a few sporting events in my list. This includes being at the Super Bowl, Game 7 of the NBA Finals and The Final Four of NCAA Basketball. The sports section of my bucket list also includes visiting the famous Santiago Barnebeu stadium in Madrid, for a classic match against rival Barcelona. Meeting Michael Jordan and witnessing the Knicks win the championship close off this section. I know, the Knicks winning isn’t really up to me, but I’ll just keep living until it happens…

But besides sports, my bucket list has much, much more. It includes a lot of traveling. A lot.

I have to spend a week chilling off the coast of Bora Bora. I need to swim with Dolphins in Hawaii. I would love to go on a Euro-trip, taking a month off and just backpacking through the many different cultures and rich history that Europe has to offer. Petting a lion. Yep, that’s on the list. And not just petting at the zoo, but I want the full African Safari experience.

And while all of these things may seem ordinary, or even a bit of a cliche, that’s not all. The special thing about my bucket list is emotion. I want to feel certain things, regardless whether it’s up to me, or in my control. I want to see a view so breathtaking, that it brings me to tears. I want to realize that I’ve changed someones life for the better. I want to love someone so much that it actually hurts.

And last, but certainly not least, on my list is all about a Mark Twain quote that I once heard, “The two most important days in your life are the day you’re born and the day you find out why”. The last thing on my list, and probably most important, is to find out why…
